This beautiful French butter keeper was wheel-thrown using speckled brown stoneware. It was hand painted using a technique called “cuerda seca” which creates a wonderful glossy surface texture.

The idea of a French butter keeper is store the butter inside the lid vessel. In order to create a seal, you add a little water to the bottom of the jar, about 1/4” high. There’s no need to refrigerate. As a disclosure, the usage information was found on the internet and I have not tested it myself.

It is food, microwave and dishwasher safe

The size is 3.5” tall by 3.5” diameter.
