About
Ana grew up in Brazil. She moved to the U.S. when she was 18 to attend college. She is a retired designer/mechanical engineer who started working with clay in 2011 at a work sponsored pottery club. She fell in love with clay immediately and it has been her passion ever since. Her experience working with Computer Aided Design has given her an advantage in visualizing the 3-D surface decorations prominent in her work.
Ana works mainly with porcelain because she prefers a white canvas to work on. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind, meticulously crafted, work of art. She is inspired by nature and often uses that in her work altering, carving and painting on clay. Since 2022, Ana has been exploring a Spanish technique called “Cuerda Seca” or Dry Cord. Through much testing, research, and practice, she has mastered this technique which leaves a wonderful texture on the surface that begs to be touched. Ana is also known for her porcelain relief carvings and sculptures she adds to her functional work.
Ana has a passion for sharing her process with others via Instagram, @analealpottery, and her YouTube channel, “Anasclayhouse”. She dedicates much of her time to putting out weekly free pottery tutorials. Ana also loves to teach workshops in her new studio where she resides in Winder Georgia.
Her main goal is using her art to bring joy and make a positive impact in people’s lives.
